Read the daily quote from Pope Francis

Religious Education

“Parents should initiate their children at an early age into the mysteries of the faith of which they are the ‘first heralds’ for their children. They should associate them from their tenderest years with the life of the Church.” (CCC 2225).

REP is instruction in the Catholic Faith for first through eighth grade* students who attend a non-Catholic public or private school.

Classes are held on Sunday morning or Tuesday evening

Students entering a sacramental preparation year must have attended a religious education program for at least one full year prior to entering the sacramental year. This includes Second grade (Reconciliation and Holy Communion) and Eighth grade (Confirmation).

Progress reports are distributed twice each year.  Parents are asked to sign them and return them to the catechists.

Note:  All REP families must be registered at St. Mary Parish of Elgin before they may register for REP.  Parish Registration is always free.

*Not all classes may be available each year, due to low enrollment.
